Purpose:

  • Fortify each participant with the knowledge and understanding of aerobic cycling training

  • Give each participant practical experience in a hear-rate based training program

  • to develop the mental and physical abilities to be able to effectively participate in an intensity-based training program

  • Develop leg strength and power, aerobic power, cardio-respiratory fitness and the ability to enhance one's metabolism and fat burning capabilities

  • Gain confidence, mental toughness, and physical endurance

  • Discover the fun and exhilaration of group fitness training

  • Pre-test and post-test your oxygen uptake capacity, and graphically show your improvement


 

You will learn to operate the Monark bicycle ergometer, effectively utilize the wind trainer, balance your bicycle on rollers, and calculate your effort into quantifiable results in order to keep track of your progress. You will develop pedaling efficiency, push through perceived fatigue barriers, and improve your nutrition to enhance your performance.

This super-concentrated, pre-season program is the ultimate in high energy, intensity based cycling for the fitness and improvement conscious cyclist. This indoor cycling training program is designed to "amp" your cardiovascular fitness, reduce your body fat, and improve your cycling skills. Cycling class sessions are comprised of stretching and floor exercises each night plus two cycling exercise sessions and an informative weekly lecture topic. 


 

The infamous Torture Cycling Clinic is guaranteed to challenge you, both mentally and physically, to bring out the best efforts you have to give. Gaining more improvement than you ever thought possible in a very short time. Through your included pre- and post-physiological testing sessions, we can assure you of seeing and feeling greater fitness gains than you have ever experienced before.

Speed & Power Clinic

“Incredible Lessons In Interval Training”

The SPEED AND POWER CLINIC is the final Clinic of the Cycling Academy Training Clinic series that puts the "icing on the fitness cake". After 9 weeks of long climbs and roller riding in the Torture Clinic, the program changes to high-power output, short work bouts, and rest periods. The focus for the next 6 weeks is on higher-than-normal effort, elevated heart rates and short speed and sprint bouts, interspersed with numerous rest intervals--all done on the Monark ergometer and wind trainer.

30 - 35 Minute Ride on the Monark Stationary Ergometer

Improves aerobic capacity, lung function, leg strength, climbing power, flat speed, and recovery. **Due to classes currently being online, if you do not have an erg and would like to utilize one during the clinic, we are offering an option to rent an erg at home until we are back in the studio. Due to the delicate nature of the ergs, we are asking for a maintenance fee (TBD). All trainings can be done on the trainer or other stationary bike if this is not an option for you. Please let us know so we can arrange drop-off/pick-up. First come first serve on available ergs. 

30 - 35 Minute Ride with your bike on the Wind Trainer

Improves leg power, leg speed, leg strength, lung efficiency and power, aerobic power, heart function, road speed, and recovery. **Due to classes currently being online, if you do not have a trainer at home we can provide a trainer for you to utilize until we are back in the studio (covered in class cost). Please let us know if you will be requiring a trainer so we can arrange drop-off/pick-up. 

Summer Mania

The Summer-Mania series is an ergometer continuation clinic focusing on high energy training for cycling athletes. This clinic helps participants rapidly develop cardio and muscular endurance through highly detailed, progressively planned and guided workouts. Emphasis will be put on time trailing, high output endurance and power climbing. Develop high level stamina, power and improve your recovery. All levels of riders and non-riders alike improve greatly from the individualized attention. Training will take place on the Monark Stationary Bike for sustained high energy output.

Heart rate monitor is highly recommended for this clinic. Participants also need a cleated cycling shoe. Please contact us if you have any questions.

*Due to shelter in place orders, all classes will be held virtually on a Zoom call. The morning of each clinic, you will receive an email with login information for the days class. 

**Trainers can be provided free to anyone needing one during the shelter in place classes

***ERG rentals are available for $95 for 1x week class participants and $75 for 2x week. Let us know if you are interested and we will arrange drop-off and pick-up of erg

The Sweat Clinic helps participants rapidly develop cardio and muscular endurance through highly detailed, progressively planned and guided workouts. All levels of riders and non-riders alike improve greatly from the individualized attention with increased stamina, high calorie burn, exercise intensity development and a plethora of related health and fitness benefits. 


 

First time Clinic participants over the age of 35 must have a medical clearance signed by your physician. Forms are available for download.
